Cardinus Risk Management offers Driver CPC Training

Cardinus, (a THB Group plc member company) - providers of online injury reduction solutions and risk management within the safety, fleet, Insurance and property sectors, is offering Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) training from September, to show drivers drive how to drive as safely and economically as possible, helping keep fuel costs down and cutting accident rates and repair/maintenance costs.

The training also includes familiarisation with modern technology, such as the operation of new digital tachographs, understanding the latest legislation, and how to avoid low-speed collisions.

The Driver CPC training provides a great opportunity for hauliers to improve knowledge and boost driving standards across their fleets, says Cardinus Risk Management.

“While road safety and better qualified drivers will help reduce road casualties, Driver CPC training should also bring an improved professional and positive image to the profession, attracting more people who want to drive professionally.” says Marcus Noble, Managing Director of Cardinus Risk Management.

He continues: “The qualification is aimed not only at improving the knowledge and skills of drivers when they start work, but also at ensuring these skills are maintained and developed throughout their working life.”

Driver CPC requires all category C and D licence holders (including C1 and D1) to take part in 35 hours training every five years in order to maintain their CPC qualification.

Periodic driver training, as it is known, is designed to confirm and expand existing knowledge and skills of each driver to ensure that they continue to be safe, courteous and fuel-efficient drivers.

Only courses that have been recognised and delivered by a training organisation approved by the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT) will count towards the periodic training requirement of 35 hours.
“Cardinus Risk Management is JAUPT approved to offer Driver CPC training and we will be holding day-long, seven hour courses at a variety of locations around the UK from September onwards, at a cost of £85 per head.

“These will allow drivers to fulfil their training requirements over one day per year and will keep disruption to businesses to an absolute minimum,” added Marcus Noble.
